Dominican Republic Mission Trip
Mission Trip 2020: The Dominican Republic
International trips are an incredible opportunity for high school students. We believe there is so much to learn and be changed by from the work that God is doing all over the world, and are excited to offer the opportunity for students to experience that this summer. This year, we are continuing our partnership with Christ in Youth in through Engage, their international trip program. CIY has facilitated international trips for over 25 years, and students will have the opportunity to continue growing as Kingdom Workers under the leadership of CIY. We are thrilled to be traveling with Engage to the Dominican Republic this July.
While there is still room for more adult leadership, our team leaders are John-Marc and Jane Bilezikian, Aileen Termini, and Gerry Schmidt. In addition to many years experience leading domestic GY mission trips, this team reflects ample international travel experience, and leading multiple groups (including teens) through international trips.
Why the Dominican Republic?
As the first city founded in the Americas, Santo Domingo is a rich blending of European, African, and native Taino Indian cultures. Spanish is the official language of the DR, although the locals blend Spanish with Dominican elements, making it “Dominicanese.” Engage has a unique partnership with International Justice Mission (IJM) and you will have the privilege of visiting their field office in Santo Domingo. The team will do some tangible projects in the local community that will have a long-term impact. You may teach Bible lessons or visit Lily House, where young women who were once enslaved are now receiving training in a safe and loving Christian environment. You will also have the incredible opportunity to spend time with members of El Circulo Church, where Engage will be involved in outreach projects. Come join this team and experience God’s redeeming love and grace for His people in the Dominican Republic.
This trip is open to all students who have completed their freshman year of high school.
