Employment Opportunity: Church Business Administrator

Gary United Methodist Church, a thriving, 880-member historic congregation in suburban Chicago, seeks a full-time Church Business Administrator. The Church Business Administrator conducts the business affairs of the church in a professional, ethical and organized manner in support and as part of the Gary Church ministries. The Business Administrator manages the day-to-day business operations of the church, and is responsible for church finances, payroll, general administration of the church office and its staff, and oversight for the maintenance/repair of church property. The Business Administrator reports directly to the Senior Pastor, and serves as a resource to staff and volunteer leadership, the Church Council, Finance Committee, and Board of Trustees in the management of the daily business transactions of the church. 

Qualifications: Associates degree or higher, with three years of management experience required, preferably in an office or non-profit setting. Experience in accounting, payroll, and other financial management functions required. Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software required. Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work in employee and volunteer teams. Empathic belief in and understanding of the mission of Gary United Methodist Church. Confidentiality, sensitivity, and discretion are essential.
