Care Ministries

At Gary Church there are many opportunities to care and be cared for during the joys and challenges of life. If you, or someone you know, is in need of a listening ear, helping hand or words of encouragement, we would like to come alongside you in prayer, care and love.
So that we can journey together in life and faith, please let us know of your needs or of your interest in serving in care ministry by contacting the Church Office.

Support Groups
Support group ministries allow you to walk alongside others who are experiencing a similar loss and offer one another support, encouragement and strength for the journey. We currently offer a Grief Support Group for those experiencing the loss of someone close.

Grief Support Group
Wednesdays, March 8 – May 10, 10:00–11:30 a.m. in Commons A
This group is for those grieving the death of someone close. It is a place where you can be with people who understand how you feel and the pain of your loss. You’ll gain valuable tools to help you as you continue on the journey of grief. You are welcome to join us at any time to see if the group will be helpful to you at this point in your grief process. Please contact the Church Office to let us know you’ll be coming.

Care, Support and Visitation
If you are going through a difficult time and need support, are scheduled to have surgery or have an unexpected hospital stay, we are here to offer support and pray with and for you.

Care Card Ministry
This ministry consists of members with the gift of compassion and creativity. The group gathers several times a month to create hand-made cards. Personalized cards are sent to Gary members and friends who could use a word of encouragement or tender loving care. If you are interested in sharing your gifts of creativity and/or compassion, please let us know.

Care Notes Ministry
People experiencing pain and life’s challenges can benefit from “the right words at the right time.” Our Care Notes ministry helps to provide these words through simple, uplifting booklets that provide strength, help and healing for those who are hurting. The Care Notes display can be found in the Commons. Please feel free to take one for you or a friend who could use a little TLC and words of encouragement.

Handyman Ministry
This ministry team provides practical assistance to fellow Gary members in need of a helping hand around the house. If you need a helping hand please contact Pastor Patsy to have your need assessed, or if you are interested in serving as part of the Handyman Ministry team, please let us know.

Homebound Visitation & Communion
The Care Ministry Team at Gary Church consists of lay members who go out to visit homebound members typically on a monthly basis to share faith, fellowship and communion.

Meal Ministry
This ministry team provides meals to individuals who could use support during a difficult time. If you are going through a challenging time and could use support, or if you are interested in serving as part of the Meal Ministry team, please let us know.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
This ministry consists of members committed to knitting prayer shawls to be given to those in need of support and encouragement. If you are interested in offering your knitting skills, or if you are in need of some extra support and encouragement, please let us know.

Senior Bus Transportation Ministry
