Welcome!
Below you will find information or links to help you get to know a little bit about us. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
What are the worship services like?
The Sunday morning service is traditional in style and includes readings, prayers, a sermon, vibrant music, and a children’s message. Because of safety restrictions, are are currently livestreaming the service from the Sanctuary with no congregants in attendance. The livestream can be viewed at 9 a.m. on our website or as a recording later in the day. (Prior to the pandemic, we had a second service at 11 a.m. as well and Sunday School for children, youth, and adults at 10 a.m. We hope to return to this schedule in the future when it is safe to do so.)
Where do my children go during worship?
Children are welcome in the Sanctuary with their families. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to safely offer Kids' Church nor nursery care at this time. A Children's Message will be included in the service which children will be able to see and hear from the pews. At-home resources for children will also be available by email. Contact the Church Office to receive these messages.
(Prior to the pandemic, at the 9 a.m. service, children ages three through fifth grade began in the Sanctuary with their parents and then were invited to come forward for a children's message. Following this message, children in fourth and fifth grade rejoined their families while the younger children were escorted by their leaders to the lower level for Kid's Church.)
May I participate in Communion?
Yes. We believe God’s table is open to all and welcome everyone present to participate in Holy Communion. We typically celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of the month, however the schedule will be different during the pandemic. We have been offering "Drive-In Communion" in the parking lot.
Do I have to be a member to participate in classes or programs?
No. Everyone is welcome to worship at Gary Church (online or in person by registering on the home page of the website) and participate in our many activities. Due to the pandemic, we are offering classes and events in various formats, some on Zoom and some small in-person gatherings. You will find many opportunities on the Gary Kids, Gary Youth, Adult Study, Music Ministries, and Mission and Outreach pages of this website.
